Belton Massey Scoops Hat-Trick of Chamber Awards

Mansfield-based manufacturer Belton Massey is celebrating after scooping a hat-trick of Chamber of Commerce awards, including the prestigious Business of the Year title for 2014.

The firm, which is Europe’s largest independent manufacturer of high quality, non-original catalytic converters, received its honours at the Chamber’s annual Nottinghamshire Business Awards on Friday at Nottingham’s Belfry Hotel.

It was named overall Business of the Year after scooping the Manufacturer of the Year and Achievement in International Business awards earlier in the evening.

Established in 1966, Belton Massey operates from two manufacturing bases in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, supplying distributors and garages in more than thirty countries worldwide.

Its Chairman, John Massey, said: “We are absolutely elated to have won the Business of the Year title at this year’s Nottinghamshire Business Awards. It is a complete surprise and a fantastic honour to receive this award, given the calibre of such prestigious competition.

“This award is a testament to the whole company and its achievements, so I’d to thank the team for helping us get to where we are today. I would also like to thank the Chamber of Commerce for acknowledging our efforts.”

Other winners on the night included Mo Kelly, of renewable energy firm Sasie, who was named Entrepreneur of the Year, East Midlands Trains, which won the Excellence in Customer Service award and Air-IT, based on theNottinghamBusinessPark, which was named Small Business of the Year.

Chamber Chief Executive George Cowcher said: “The Chamber’s congratulations go to all of this year’s winners. We had some stellar entries this year and the judging process was extremely tough, but all of the winning businesses thoroughly deserve their success.

“The standard of competition was extremely high this year which clearly shows that, following a year in which the local economy has made remarkable progress, we have some real success stories of Nottinghamshire businesses doing well.

“Over the past 12 months, businesses in Nottinghamshire have been busy investing, innovating, exporting and growing and these awards are testament to the quality of business we have in this city and county.”
