Potential bidders are being urged to find out more about accessing £200 million of Regional Growth Fund money at a special roadshow in Nottingham.
Round Six of the Government’s Regional Growth Fund is now open and BIS will be hosting an additional roadshow on Friday, August 1 in Nottingham with over 70 local businesses due to attend.
It will cover what makes a good bid and how bids are assessed – essential listening for anyone thinking of submitting a bid.
The event will start at 10am at Level 4 Concert Hall, Theatre Royal & Concert Hall, Theatre Square, Nottingham, NG1 5ND.
Millions of pounds from the Government’s Regional Growth Fund have already been spent, with some firms winning cash by applying directly.
Others have secured funding through a programme run by D2N2 – the Local Enterprise Partnership for Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
D2N2 secured £5m from the Regional Growth Fund to help develop its Unlocking Investment for Growth Initiative (UI4G). It has been combined with £2.8m received from the European Regional Development Fund to deliver support to firms who want to invest in job-creating growth but can’t quite get the money together.
D2N2 won’t obtain any new money in the latest round of RGF funding, which will see a further £200m made available directly to businesses from across the country.
But Chief Executive, David Ralph, has urged local businesses to pitch in and make a bid either directly or through D2N2 for funds which he says have played an important part in supporting job creation.
He said: “The Regional Growth Fund has proved a useful tool to support growth and D2N2 will support and encourage firms in our area to apply for funding during Round Six. This roadshow is a great chance to find out more.
“D2N2 companies have a good track record in securing funding from previous rounds and we would encourage businesses that can benefit from RGF Round Six to e apply and we will wholeheartedly support them in any way we can to help bring those applications to a successful conclusion.”
In Round Six, projects looking for over £1million which will create or safeguard jobs and raise private finance of at least 1:1 are welcome to bid.
For more details please go to The-regional-growth-fund. The deadline for applications is midday September 30, 2014.
Mr Ralph added: “For the smaller and medium-sized companies in the D2N2 area, our pot of Regional Growth Fund money is utilised through our UI4G programme which has been highly effective in creating new jobs in the past 12 months.”
