D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership chairman Peter Richardson said businesses in the Chesterfield area are of vital importance to making Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire one of the strongest and most resilient economic regions in the UK.
His comments came today as he met with leading business figures at a Business Breakfast at Calabria Cucina, on Glumangate, in the town to outline the plans of the D2N2 LEP and how it is engaging with the whole region.
Mr Richardson said: “It was a very encouraging morning. We welcome the opportunity to meet with businesses in Chesterfield and surrounding areas and they are of massive importance to the economic prosperity of the D2N2 region.
“The meeting was very useful in understanding the challenges and issues they face and I look forward to engaging further with them on our Growth Plan and in the building of our Inspirational Postcode.”
The D2N2 LEP is a business-led partnership set up to drive local economic growth and job creation in our area, bringing together leaders of local authorities with key leaders from business and from our three world-class universities.
The specially-arranged event in Chesterfield gave businesses the chance to find out about the LEP’s activities to date and future plans on investment initiatives, skills strategy and its work on business regulation.
Stephen Gordon, Executive Director at Banner Jones Solicitors in Chesterfield, said: “It was a great opportunity to get senior business people to come and meet the chairman of the D2N2 and find out what it can offer Chesterfield and North Derbyshire businesses.
“The meeting hosted by Banner Jones, Natwest Bank and Shorts Accountants gave us all a chance to raise issues that affect our businesses and understand what the D2N2 can offer in support. Anything that engages local business and can make funds available is welcomed and we look forward to further engagement with the D2N2.”
