Construction firms and subcontractors across all disciplines in Nottingham are invited to bid for contracts worth up to £1.3million for the £10million Nottingham University Academy of Science & Technology (NUAST) scheme.
Contractors are being urged to sign up online www.growingnottingham.com/BAM and register for a Meet the Buyer event in the city next week for this – for one of the Nottingham largest building schemes.
The multiple works packages include contracts worth from £1000 to £300,000 covers 23 different aspects of the build project including suspended ceilings, painting and decorating, carpentry, soft and hard landscaping and architectural metalwork.
Nottingham City Council’s Employer Hub is working in partnership with BAM Construction to host the event for the Nottingham University Academy of Science & Technology (NUAST) development in Nottingham plus other local BAM projects.
The Employer Hub delivers a co-ordinated, bespoke training and recruitment service. It forms part of the Nottingham Growth Plan, a blueprint for the city’s future business growth and is one of the most ambitious strategies of the UK’s Core Cities.
BAM is the fifth largest construction company in the UK and is committed to developing its local supply chain. The Employer Hub is co-ordinating the event inviting local contractors and providing access to senior BAM managers, information about works packages worth £1.3million on NUAST, and details of other BAM sub-contractor requirements.
Incorporating state-of-the-art equipment and first class study and social facilities, the new NUAST building is on Abbey Street, Dunkirk, near The University of Nottingham’s University Park Campus. This exciting new development is being co-sponsored by The University of Nottingham and Sir Harry Djanogly, CBE which is backed by leading international, national and regional employers including: Toshiba (the main employer partner), XMA, Alliance Boots, Siemens, Experian, Rolls Royce and BT.
The NUAST project is an innovative centre featuring super-labs, CADCAM suites and advanced technology suites, designed to allow students to develop ideas from concept through to production. The innovative design features large glazed panels, while enclosing the prominent urban site, sheltering external social and learning space from the adjacent dual carriageway.
To help ensure local supply of skilled contractors Nottingham City Council is hosting the Meet the Buyer event on Friday 17 January at Loxley House, Station Street, Nottingham, NG2 3NG. 12.30 to 6.00pm. At the event there will also be a training and advice supplied by a local further education college (New College Nottingham) to assist local sub contractors who need any guidance in any key criteria which are essential pre requisites prior to securing contracts with BAM.
