Pulling on the lycra and climbing into the saddle for charity later this month are Martin Griffiths and Dennis Hollingworth from DE22 Creative in Derby, and Dave Marsden from Page One Photography in Nottingham.
On Sunday 12 October, the trio are riding 40 miles, including a timed lap of Donnington Park race circuit, in the inaugural ‘Tour de Treetops ‘to raise money for a worthy local cause, Treetops Hospice at Risley.
The event is inspired by the recent Tour de France and Tour of Britain, and has been designed by local business Rhodes Wealth Management.
The event, that also has a 20-mile option, will stop at seven Treetops Hospice charity shops, as well as the time trial lap of Donington Park (40 mile route only). Both distances will start and finish at Treetops Hospice in Risley, where a Vintage Fayre will be taking place throughout the day.
‘The money we raise through the ride, and also by people attending the Vintage Fayre will go towards providing care to local people with life-limiting illnesses’ said Martin.
Added Dennis ‘We’ve all done various things for charity previously, but nothing like this (Martin – fell running & a half-marathon, Dennis – bike rides and a parachute jump, and Dave – full marathons), but it’s the timed lap of Donnington that’s the challenge here. Have you seen the gradient of the run up to McLeans?! I don’t think the lap record is under any danger, especially as I’m on a mountain bike!
Dave’s thoughts for the day ‘no jokes about M.A.M.I.Ls please!’
