The D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership’s Skills Development Coordinator Katrina Woodward is at the national Skills Show in Birmingham on Friday November 15.
The Skills Show aims to inspire and transform young people’s lives through a series of interactive events changing and the three-day event at the NEC Birmingham is the UK’s largest skills and careers event.
Katrina said: “I have been looking forward to visiting the Skills Show and seeing the many interactive events for young people.
“At D2N2 we are looking to change the way we think about skills, training and apprenticeships and this show, I’m sure, will be very informative.”
Katrina joined the D2N2 last month and has been tasked with leading and coordinating the development and implementation of the D2N2 Skills for Growth Strategy.
Katrina has enjoyed a long career in the skills, training and education sector, having worked for South Nottingham College and Central College Nottingham for 12 years specifically involved with business development, employer and learner engagement, managing innovation and enterprise delivery teams and the recruitment of apprentices.
Katrina’s skills include; ascertaining and managing delivery skills solutions for businesses – providing the right fit, proactively networking, providing advice on a framework of training – including qualifications, a range of delivery methodologies, and funding strategies, as well as providing support to businesses to critically assess a training provider’s offer.
Katrina’s knowledge in economic development and regeneration has provided her with an understanding of the skills environment and key economic growth issues locally and through on-the-job experience she has gained a network of contacts specifically through working with funders, council economic development teams, community groups, social enterprises, employers and learners – which she says she is keen to further develop.
She said: “I have seen many changes and led changes within the College environment in relation to vocational learning as a result of the Leitch, Wolf, and more recently the Richard review into the future of apprenticeships – and as such I am really excited to be able to have the opportunity to work with the D2N2 LEP to make our area one of the strongest and most resilient economic regions in the UK and in working specifically on the Skills for Growth Strategy.”
