The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) is one of the five European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF).
EAFRD funding in the Growth Programme will contribute to delivering the Government’s top priority of economic growth through:
- building knowledge and skills in rural areas;
- funding new, and developing non-agricultural, micro, small and medium-sized rural business;
- funding small scale renewable and broadband investments in rural areas;
- supporting tourism activities in rural areas.
Businesses in rural areas, including farming businesses, can apply for EAFRD funding for activities which support the ESIF Strategy.
D2N2 has been given £5.5million (£5,523,249) to spend over six years to help rural businesses and the rural economy in its area to grow.

Technical Assistance
The D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership Technical Assistance (TA) website is an information source for partners and organisations with an interest in European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF).
The site contains information on how to apply for and successfully run an ESIF-funded project and about projects already being delivered in the D2N2 area.
The aim of the TA website is to encourage potential partners and providers to understand the nature, range, and scope of ESIF opportunities; allowing them to be better informed and to contribute to their delivery as appropriate.
