5.30pm – 8.00pm, Wednesday 21st May, Geldards, Pride Park, Derby, DE24 8QR
This event considers how recent investments in electric vehicle technologies may benefit our area.
Construction work on the new Formula E’s global electric street racing series’ £5.7 million headquarters and team facilities will shortly be completed at Donington Park. The 44,000 sq. ft. site will include bespoke state-of-the-art facilities for each of the 10 Formula E teams, along with offices, stores and workshops for Formula E’s own operational staff.
According to Christopher Tate, MD, Donington Park, Formula E will not only employ more than 150 technical engineers but will provide a boost for the local economy and local supply chain. “Formula E will create a high-tech hub of skilled jobs and specialist industry in really advanced manufacturing and that will be a huge feather in the cap for the area.”
Christopher will outline at the event, how the Formula E investment forms part of our wider initiative to move the northern boundary of Motor Sport Valley, to incorporate our locality and neighbouring facilities.
A presentation will also be made by Intelligent Energy-a global clean power systems company, specialising in the development of modular, low carbon fuel cell systems for the automotive and aerospace sectors. Intelligent Energy is one of the UK’s fastest growing companies and now employs over 300 staff from its Loughborough Head office. IE’s current partners include the London Taxi Company, PSA Peugeot Citroën, Lotus Engineering and the Suzuki Motor Corporation.
Robert Evans from Cenex will also present an overview of the growth in electric vehicle technologies and the local supply chain opportunities
