From the 7 to 11 April it’s UK Trade & Investment’s (UKTI) Export Week- Grow Your Business.
Almost 400 businesses are expected at events across the region, organised by UKTI in conjunction with a number of partners and business organisations.
The week aims to encourage companies to take up the export challenge by highlighting the wealth of support available for them to grow.
Ian Harrison, Regional Director for UK Trade & Investment in the East Midlands, said: “As the latest statistics show, our push to increase exports from the region is working: They rose from £19.95bn to £21.48bn between 2012 and 2013 –and achieved the second highest growth rate in the country.
“There is an unbelievable appetite for British products and services overseas and there has never been a more opportune time to take advantage of these commercial prospects.
“Our role at UKTI is to make sure companies continue to export and are armed with the best market research and contacts to help them target the markets that will get them maximum return.
“And it’s clear that exporters do better with UKTI’s help – in the past year around £35 million worth of business wins have been recorded by East Midlands businesses assisted by UKTI.
“During Export Week we want to get the message across to as many companies as possible that they need to export to stay competitive and improve profits. We also want to show firms who’ve not exported before, how they too can access new markets overseas.”
