The Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner and the Chief Constable are seeking five independent people to sit on a Joint Audit and Scrutiny Panel overseeing governance processes across Nottinghamshire Police Service.
The Panel will provide advice to the Police and Crime Commissioner and Chief Constable on the effectiveness of the arrangements in place to ensure quality and good value local policing. It will also ensure that recommendations from HMIC and other organisations are implemented satisfactorily.
Chris Cutland, Deputy Commissioner, said: “We really want to involve local people in every way we can, so that their views are reflected by the way in which we prioritise and deliver services. We are equally keen that this panel will reflect the diverse communities of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
“So, we want to hear from professionally experienced independent people who care about local policing issues. We hope that they will be prepared to provide challenge and understanding to help us deliver further improvements and ensure value for money.”
It is expected that successful applicants will have relevant experience of strategic planning and risk and performance management, and a high level track record in the public, third or private sectors. Panel members will also be expected to scrutinise financial information and processes and have knowledge of best governance practice.
Appointments will be for a period of four years, starting June 2013 and it is hoped that applicants will represent the rich diversity of Nottinghamshire’s communities. The Panel is expected to meet four times a year.
An annual allowance of £900 will be available alongside re-imbursement of mileage or public transport costs.
