A spokesman for the D2N2 LEP said: ““We welcome the offer of support for core resources from Government to accelerate the development of the D2N2 LEP.
“D2N2 will remain a lean LEP that works closely with businesses and local authorities but this funding will give it more capacity to deliver its ambitious strategy.”
George Cowcher, Chief Executive of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “D2N2 was started from scratch with virtually no resources or funding and has come a long way in terms of putting its governance and support infrastructure in place and agreeing its priorities, which it is now starting to implement.
“This is a relatively small amount of additional funding, but will go a long way in terms of enabling D2N2 to increase its capacity to take forward its work to drive growth and jobs at local level.”
For your info:
D2N2 gets an allocation of £125,000 this financial year. It can bid for £250,000 per year in 2013/14 and 2014/15, but this would have to be matched in cash.
The LEP is currently looking at the details of what this cash can be used to fund, but it will most likely be used to accelerate it plans and drive further engagement with businesses.
