Mansfield Bus Station Scoops RICS Awards

Mansfield bus station has won a prestigious award for the contribution it has made to the people of the town since it opened last year.

The building was entered in the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) East Midlands Awards 2014 where it won the Community Benefit category.  It was also highly commended in the infrastructure category of the awards.  It now goes through to the national RICS awards which will be held at the Savoy Hotel in London in October.

The East Midlands awards were held at the Leicester Marriott Hotel.  The award for Mansfield bus station was presented to the Chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council, Cllr John Allin, and Cllr Kate Allsop, Portfolio Holder for Economic Regeneration at Mansfield District Council.

“I am absolutely delighted that Mansfield bus station has been recognised by the RICS in these prestigious awards,” said Cllr Allin.

“It’s not simply an award for what is a great building, it’s an award that recognises how well that building serves the people of Mansfield and how it has contributed to the on-going economic regeneration of the town.  I would add a personal thank you and congratulations to officers at the County Council who designed the building in-house and at Kier Construction for the project which has created a great new landmark in Mansfield.”

Cllr Allsop added: “We are delighted that Mansfield bus station won the community benefit award and was highly commended in the infrastructure category.  This state-of-the-art building is a thriving hub in the middle of Mansfield and a very worthy winner.”
