MEMBERS of Nottingham City Council were today presented with certificates confirming Nottingham is a top city at a prestigious ceremony at MIPIM in Cannes.
The city has been ranked as one of the top ten most talented cities in Europe in the ‘Top 10 mid-sized European cities – human capital and lifestyle’ category and the award was presented at a prestigious lunch time ceremony today at the Hôtel Majestic Barrière in Cannes. Nottingham won a similar FDI award in 2012.
Nottingham was officially noted for being a top ten city in Europe and ranked as a leading European city of the future in an analysis in the FDI European Cities and Regions of the Future 2012/13.
Ian Curryer, chief executive at Nottingham City Council and Lorraine Baggs, head of trade and inward investment for Invest in Nottingham, collected the coveted FDI certificate at the ceremony today.
The FDI’s latest research, which is produced every two years, shows that in terms of human resources, Nottingham is the one of the best micro cities in Europe.
Ian Curryer said: “The FDI awards are a coveted event and Nottingham is thrilled to have been awarded one of the certificates, not once, but twice now.
“Mayors, dignitaries and professionals from economic development organisations across Europe are present at the awards, so it is a fantastic springboard for boosting Nottingham’s profile and drawing attention to the great achievements of the city.
“It is brilliant that Nottingham is ranked highly as a city with huge potential for development and investment.
“The analysis underlines the city’s capability as a high achieving city to invest in. It also provides corporate decision-makers with an up-to-date image of the ever-changing global investment map.”
