The ‘Productivity Through Innovation’ is a programme run by the University of Derby, Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham; to provide up to 181 SMEs in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire with help to improve their productivity, over a three year period.
The UK lags behind other European countries in productivity and it is also a concern regionally. Through the ‘Productivity Through Innovation’ funding the three universities’ knowledge, skills and technology will be made available free to SME firms in the D2N2 LEP area.
Firms’ challenges will be addressed through innovation support (including postgraduate and undergraduate placements), management and leadership workshops; and academic support designed to help businesses innovate and explore new ideas.
Half the Programme’s funding comes via European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) money allocated to D2N2 LEP. The three universities will invest £1.5m each in the programme.
