D2N2 are proud to be investing £3.3million of Local Growth Funding into the reinvigoration of the Riverside Business Park in Bakewell.
The Riverside Business Park, a 225,000 square foot site of industrial buildings, just north-west of Bakewell town centre, is to be redeveloped in three phases to improve access to the site, improve the state of the industrial buildings there and to better meet the needs of modern businesses.
Amongst the new developments will be a new Premier Inn hotel, the refurbishment of the Mill Race Building and Retort House, and the extension of the existing Bakewell Bakery alongside a range of new industrial premises.
To provide enhanced transport links, a new road link from the A6 and a bridge will be installed.
The current Park is on the site of Lumford Mill, built by Industrial Revolution entrepreneur Sir Richard Arkwright in the 1700s. The Mill was destroyed by fire in the mid-19th Century but its site has subsequently been redeveloped for modern industrial and commercial uses.
Construction work on the site is due to begin in July 2019 with final completion in 2026.
