Export experts from British embassies in Singapore and India are visiting the East Midlands this September to advise local firms keen to do business in those markets.
The regional office of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) at Raynesway, Derby, will play host to the two experts who will be discussing the current business opportunities in their countries and offering one-to-one advice.
The first event in the series takes place on 9 September, with Nicola Hewitt from the British High Commission in Singapore. She will provide specialist advice on the engineering, energy and environment sectors. Singapore is ranked by the World Bank as the easiest place in the world to start, run and do business, and already over 1,000 British organisations have a presence there.
On 19 September, Milind Godbole, from the British Trade Office in Ahmedabad, India will give briefings to companies from any sector. India may be a complex and challenging market but it is one that cannot be ignored by UK companies that are seeking to expand or go international being the second fastest growing economy in the world. It was recently announced that the British trade office in Ahmedabad is to be upgraded to become a new Deputy High Commission, giving British businesses new and improved links to opportunities in Gujarat.
Ian Harrison, Regional Director for UKTI East Midlands said:
“It’s a real coup for local businessesto have these experts on their doorstep, able to offer specific one-to-one advice.
“The specialists are based in the British Embassies or Consulates of their countries and, as such, are very well placed to help our local firms get an in-depth insight, or advice on specific issues, in these markets. So if you want to get a head start in these markets I would book early as past experience suggest that these visits are very popular”.
