There are a total of 87 businesses listed for the East Midlands and a further 80 in the West Midlands, showing the strength of the area powering the ‘Midlands Engine for Growth’.

As well as geographical area, the report also divides the businesses it has identified into different sectors; including the Creative Industries, Food and Drink, Manufacturing and Engineering, and Leisure.

David Ralph, D2N2 Chief Executive said: “D2N2 truly is the UK’s most inspirational postcode. I congratulate not only the D2N2 companies listed in this report, but all companies and organisations across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. I also commend the efforts of the wider East and West Midlands, united within the Midlands Engine, as we continue to show Government how and why this is the place to do business.”

Quoted in the LSEG report George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer (pictured on a recent visit to Derby) says: “UK high-growth businesses are leading the charge in rebuilding our economy. These companies are the backbone of the British economy.”

Business Secretary Sajid Javid, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, adds: “From the Midlands Engine to the Granite City of Aberdeen, these 1,000 companies are bringing opportunity and prosperity to every corner of the UK and it is right that we celebrate their success.”
