Around 150 delegates are expected to attend the 2015 D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership Annual Conference tomorrow morning (Tuesday July 14).

Last Year’s (2014) D2N2 Annual Conference
D2N2 – a Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) of business, local authorities, skills and training providers, and community and voluntary groups – promotes economic growth and jobs creation across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. It holds an Annual Conference each year, to give an update on the successes of its last 12 months and showcase its ambitions for the future.
Guest speakers for tomorrow’s Conference will be:
- Trevor Williams, Chief Economist for Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking and Visiting Professor at the University of Derby’s Business School. Trevor will be looking at where UK business growth will come from in the next few years, in the context of last week’s (July 8) Budget.
- Christopher Barnatt, Futurist and author of website ExplainingTheFuture.com, and Associate Professor of Strategy and Future Studies at Nottingham University Business School.
D2N2 Chief Executive David Ralph will talk about a successful past 12 months. Highlights of which include the launch of the LEP’s Growth Hub service last December (2014), which is already helping new and established businesses to grow, and the announcement last March of £214million in European Structural Investment Funds (ESIF) to finance a range of business, entrepreneurship, employment, skills, low carbon and social exclusion projects in its area, between now and 2020.
Peter Richardson, D2N2 Chairman, will discuss the LEP’s future plans; which include the continuing push, with local authority partners, for devolution to give the D2N2 area more say in its economic future.
A Business Question-and-Answer Panel will answer live queries from the audience at the event.
Tomorrow’s Conference delegates will also be able to pick up a copy of D2N2’s new 2014/15 Annual Review, giving key facts and figures about the LEP’s work.
All the news from the 2015 Annual Conference will be published on the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership website at www.d2n2lep.org
