Chinook Sciences, the leading clean-tech renewable technology company, announced today that it was crowned the UK’s Green Champion for 2014 at the prestigious Green Apple Awards in the Fuel, Power and Energy category. Chinook won the award for the RODECS®, its patented and proven Advanced Thermal Treatment process for metal recycling and renewable energy generation. The company achieved the highest score in its category, holding off a strong challenge from more than 400 other companies. Harry Perry, Chinook’s Technical Director was presented with the award at a ceremony held at the Houses of Parliament in London.
Judges were impressed with how the RODECS® is used to process and ultimately, reduce the 27m tonnes of residual waste left over from the UK’s domestic, commercial and industrial waste streams. RODECS® will enable much of this waste to be treated in Chinook’s plants using the best available and proven environmental technology to recover all the valuable metal and aggregates, and generate energy from the remaining fraction. In doing so, it will significantly boost the amount of residual waste that is diverted from landfill sites.
