On Friday 5th December Business and Enterprise Minister Matthew Hancock will officially launch the D2N2 Growth Hub during an event for businesses in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
The D2N2 – Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham & Nottinghamshire – Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) aims to create 55,000 jobs before 2023 and has secured funds to work across the region and build up a single point of contact for business advice and support services.
The Government is also expected to announce on Friday how it is simplifying business support to make it quicker and easier for every business to get the help they need. Growth hubs – and the new D2N2 Growth Hub – will play a key role in enabling access to delivery at the local level.
The new D2N2 Growth Hub will help bring local and national support together and provide ambitious businesses in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire with a bespoke offer to help them grow and thrive.
Business and Enterprise Minister Matthew Hancock said:
“Small firms often look for help and advice within their local communities and the 23 growth hubs across the country are a great way of improving and simplifying access to business support.
“The D2N2 Growth Hub will bring together a tailored range of resources and services, making sure businesses in this region get the support they need, from access to finance to specialist advice on exporting.
“The Government is backing businesses in the industrial heartland of Britain, and this new growth hub is one way we are supporting them to start up, grow and create jobs.”
The East Midlands Chamber of Commerce has been commissioned to set up a new website for the D2N2 Growth Hub to provide business information, which will be supplemented by a dedicated phone advice service. This will simplify the offer from a number of partners delivering specialist skills and innovative support across the D2N2 area in the form of face-to-face support, training and events.
The D2N2 Growth Hub will also bring in the national business advice and support is available from the GREAT Business website, with services like Growth Accelerator, the Manufacturing Advisory Service and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) helping businesses to grow, export and create jobs.
Close working relations with our local Councils and partners will bring further business benefits to maximise impact and provide a cost effective service.
“The Growth Hub is so important to ensuring our businesses get the support they need from finance, mentoring, skills development or innovation, on time and to a high quality; this is what will help D2N2 continue to be an inspirational postcode to do business”; says Peter Richardson, Chairman of D2N2.
Businesses attending the launch will find out more about the services on offer, get the chance to meet some of the providers and network with other local firms.
