Derby City Council is recruiting an officer to ensure that more businesses have the level of support they need to access the ongoing grants and loans through the successful Derby Enterprise Growth Fund.
The new post will work as part of the Council’s Regeneration team. They will support businesses to make applications for funding, assessing applications and make recommendations to the DEGF panel who allocate funding and monitor projects to ensure businesses achieve their targets.
The 18-month fixed post is advertised on the City Council website www.derby.gov.uk with a closing date of January 18. Interviews are planned for early February.
The majority of the £20 million cash injection allocated to Derby and the travel to work area from the Government’s Regional Growth Fund has now been invested by the City Council through grants and loans to businesses.
However, 55% of the fund has been allocated as commercial loans which are now being paid back to the Council and will be re-allocated to further businesses who apply. This will enable support to continue for the next four to five years.
Derby City Council Deputy Leader Cllr Martin Rawson chairs the DEGF panel.
He said: “Our aim is to provide the catalyst to enable innovative businesses in Derby city and the travel to work area to expand and create more than 2,000 local jobs for local people.
“We are looking for someone with a broad skills base and with experience of commercial lending to continue the success of DEGF. This is a fixed term post and applications from people interested in a seconded role will also be considered.”
