National Apprenticeship Week next week (March 9 to 13) is being backed by D2N2; the Local Enterprise Partnership for Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
UK apprenticeships and their positive impact on apprentices themselves, businesses and the wider economy will be celebrated throughout the week. As part of D2N2’s drive to create economic growth, a more competitive economy – and 55,000 jobs in its area in ten years (by 2023) – it works closely with colleges and further education training providers through its ‘Skills for Growth Strategy’.
Working with businesses and enabling them to influence the skills priorities in the area, creating quality apprenticeships relevant to business needs and extending the higher apprenticeship offer to provide in-work career pathways is key to the Local Enterprise Partnership’s mission of promoting a skilled workforce which boosts economic growth; and this is reflected in our Apprenticeship Growth Plan strategy.

Mark Townsend, Apprentice Ambassador to the Skills & Employment Commission and Managing Director of Derry Building Services, said:
