Prominent businessman, Peter Richardson, has been appointed as the new non-executive Chairman of Tramlink Nottingham.
Well known across the area as the Chairman of the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, Peter has had a hugely successful career in the financial services sector and was formerly the Chief Executive of the Derbyshire Building Society.
Steve Lowe, Tramlink’s Chief Executive, explained: “We’re delighted that Peter has accepted the Tramlink Board’s invitation to take up this position, following the departure of our previous Executive Chairman Phil Hewitt, who has left to become Metro Programme Director with Centro in the West Midlands.
“We are deeply indebted to Phil for his tremendous contribution in delivering the NET Phase Two expansion project and we wish him well in his new role.”
Tramlink Nottingham Limited holds the contract to operate the city’s growing tram network and oversaw the development of expanded routes, which opened in August following the construction of 17.5km of new lines.
Steve added: “I know that Peter is greatly looking forward to helping the Tramlink Board to continue to deliver on its commitment to provide Nottingham with a world class tram network.”
Peter Richardson said: “I’m very pleased to be joining the Tramlink Nottingham team as its Chairman, building on the excellent work of Phil Hewitt.
“Through my work with the D2N2 LEP I’ve seen the importance of good transport links for business and leisure use, and look forward to helping enhance the service the tram network brings to the people of Nottingham.”
