Thousands of organisations – including the D2N2 Growth Hub – and delegates attended the largest annual free East Midlands business exhibition today (Thursday February 11).
The Growth Hub team stand, part of the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, was at the Love Business Expo, now in its fifth year and held at the Donington Park International Exhibition Hall in Castle Donington.
Love Business attracted key businesses and investors from Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and beyond. Its five zones included:
- Innovation, Technology and Sustainability
- Construction and Property
- Small Business
- Leisure, Hospitality and Retail
- And also a Manufacturing and Engineering Conference.
Other attendees included East Midlands Chamber, which acts as the voice of business for its area (Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire). It held its East Midlands Manufacturing and Engineering Conference 2016, as part of the Love Business event, featuring a panel of key industry figures talking about the link between investment, skills and productivity. Panel members included David Williams, Chief Executive of Lenton-based Butt Foods, and also Chair of the D2N2 Growth Hub Project Board and its representative on the larger LEP Board.
E-commerce and marketing company Purpose Media of South Normanton had a stand at the event. It recently expanded its business with the help of an £85,000 grant from D2N2, creating new jobs.
The D2N2 Growth Hub was at Love Business to offer free and impartial advice and guidance to businesses operating in the D2N2 area of Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Since it was established, in December 2014, the D2N2 Growth Hub has helped over 1,500 businesses access finance, support and advice. It is part of the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership; a private sector-led partnership of businesses, local authorities, skills and training providers, and others, which works to grow the economy and create jobs.
