Work to support and promote eight key economic sectors across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire is detailed in a new D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership publication out today (Wednesday March 23).
Unlocking Growth – Eight key sectors of the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership appears in the business sections of both the Nottingham Post and Derby Telegraph today (Wednesday March 23).
It offers examples of companies and projects which have benefited from the LEP’s work in its eight key sectors of transport equipment manufacturing, life sciences, food and drink manufacturing, construction, the visitor economy, low carbon economy, transport and logistics, and the creative and digital industries.
For example, the £30m BioCity Nottingham extension, currently under construction (pictured above), which has received £6.5m from D2N2’s Local Growth Fund allocation. Or the ‘pipeline analysis’ project being undertaken by D2N2’s Construction Sector Skills and Advisory Group’, jointly with the national Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), to give both small and large contractors better foreknowledge of upcoming public sector contracts which they could tender for, benefiting their busineses.
Commenting on the 24 page supplement, D2N2 Chairman Peter Richardson said: “These eight key sectors are in commercial areas where D2N2 is already strong or has the capacity to grow; ones for which activity should be prioritised to develop them, and cross-sector links built.
“In this special D2N2 business publication there is a lot more about those eight sectors and, in detail, what we are doing to meet their specific growth needs.
“Suffice to say that in the relatively short span of five years that the D2N2 LEP has existed, its practical initiatives have seen those sectors take a major leap forward.”
