A marine equipment manufacturer which received D2N2 funding to help it grow is among several businesses linked to the Local Enterprise Partnership in the finals of the Nottingham Post Business Awards 2016.
The annual Awards aim to recognise Nottingham and Nottinghamshire companies and organisations for their contribution to economic growth. There are a range of awards’ categories.
Listed in the ‘Excellence in Science and Technology’ category is Coldharbour Marine of Linby (pictured); which manufactures and installs technical naval equipment, including ballast water treatment technology.
Coldharbour’s £1.5million move into its current premises (in 2014) was aided by an Unlocking Investment for Growth (UI4G) grant from D2N2; the private sector led Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) of business, local authorities, skill and training providers, and others which promotes economic growth across Derby. Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. In January (2016) Coldharbour announced it was looking to recruit a further 100 engineers, to cope with new business. The UI4G programme, which has now closed to applications, was funded by the Government’s Regional Growth Fund and the European Regional Development Fund.
Other businesses in running for Post business awards include:
- Butt Foods Ltd in the ‘Small Business’ category – The Lenton bakery’s Managing Director, David Williams, is a D2N2 Board member, and he is involved in D2N2’s Growth Hub and European funding work.
- Trentbarton in the ‘Sales and Marketing’ category – The Heanor-based bus operator is part the Wellglade Group, whose Deputy Chairman is Ian Morgan. Ian is a D2N2 Board member representing businesses.
- Futures Advice, skills and employment in the ‘Not for Profit’ category – The Nottingham-based careers organisation is linked to D2N2 through its careers inspiration programme.
