Event sets out business ‘high growth’ ambitions for D2N2 LEP area

A free workshop event for organisations interested in helping businesses achieve higher growth has been held by the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership today (April 6).

The High Growth Business Support Workshop (pictured) was held from 10am to 2pm at Chesterfield FC’s Proact Stadium, Chesterfield.

It was aimed at organisations and businesses interested in running programmes to help companies across the D2N2 LEP area (of Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire) – particularly small and medium sized enterprises, (SMEs) and scale-up businesses – to achieve higher growth.

D2N2 has been allocated around € 250million in European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) through the European Union, which it is using in a range of ways to promote economic growth and create jobs across the LEP’s area.

ESIF are made up of different EU funding strands, including the European Regional Development Fund. Part of the ERDF monies has been allocated to help SMEs in the D2N2 area become more competitive and grow.

Today’s Chesterfield event saw delegates of organisations interested in setting up a programme to help businesses across the LEP area to grow given information on D2N2’s economic strategy and priorities, and how their funding applications should evidence how their ‘high growth’ programme would support those ambitions.

Around £700,000 in ERDF funding has been made available for this programme, which successful bidder organisations will have to match. When up and running the high growth programme will be supporting firms which are already growing quickly, have the capacity to or which have ambitions to expand.

Help provided to them will include expert assessment of a company’s potential, putting them in contact with other supportive businesses, developing leadership and management qualities within the firm, and identifying new UK or export market opportunities.

Organisations interested in running a high growth programme for the D2N2 LEP area, but which were unable to attend today’s workshop event, can still find out more by viewing the web link HERE. The deadline for applications for this funding is May 13, 2017.
