D2N2 Chief Executive David Ralph attended the official opening of a project part-funded by the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), in Kirkby-in-Ashfield today (October 10).
Ada Lovelace House (pictured) is located on the site of the former Ashfield Urban Council Offices in Kirby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. It has recently been developed into business units, creating 1,658 sq. ft. of space for start-up businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Ashfield District Council, who have been leading on the project, held the formal opening today and invited those involved in the project to attend.
The total cost of the Ada Lovelace House project was £280,000. This was funded with £140,000 from Ashfield District Council and £140,000 from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership’s Local Growth Fund allocation – used to fund infrastructure projects, which attract investment and create jobs across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire – as part of D2N2’s mission to create 55,000 new jobs in ten years (2013-2023). D2N2 money for the Ada Lovelace House redevelopment was agreed by the D2N2 Infrastructure and Investment Board.
David Ralph, Chief Executive of the D2N2 LEP, said: “There is a clear appetite for small business space in Ashfield and the Ada Lovelace House redevelopment is a means to help meet that need. Our private sector-led Partnership promotes economic and jobs growth across Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derby and Derbyshire; and it is important that all areas benefit from that investment and growth.”
This project was procured through the East Midlands Property Alliance (empa) framework, which aims to improve the delivery of property services to communities and is managed by Scape Procure.
