North Notts businesses attend D2N2 breakfast event

The fifth of the 2017 series of free Business Breakfasts hosted by the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership was held this morning (November 21) at The Lion Hotel in Worksop, north Nottinghamshire.

Each year the D2N2 LEP – the private sector-led partnership of business, local authorities, higher and further education providers, community and voluntary services, and other organisations which promotes economic and jobs growth across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire – hosts a series of free Business Breakfasts across its area. The events are a chance to update businesses on past successes and consult them on future plans.

Today’s event was held at The Lion Hotel, in Worksop Town Centre. It heard from senior representatives of the D2N2 LEP and guest business speaker Claire Monk, General Manager of the Welbeck Abbey Brewery, near Worksop. Food and drink manufacturers, such as the Welbeck Abbey Brewery, represent one of D2N2’s eight key commercial sectors; those industries where the area has or could create a competitive advantage.

Today’s Business Breakfast speakers covered the following areas:

  • David Ralph, D2N2 Chief Executive. David spoke about recent D2N2 projects and the LEP’s future plans to promote economic growth.
  • Guest business speaker – Claire Monk, General Manager and Brewer of Welbeck Abbey Brewery.
  • D2N2 Officer Speaker Richard Kirkland, European Structural and Investment Fund Coordinator, spoke on the ESIF EU funding programme and on the LEP’s ‘refresh’ of its Strategic Economic Plan; the blueprint setting out how D2N2 will develop its area’s economy in the future.

The sixth and final Business Breakfast of the current series will be held next Tuesday (November 28) at The Derbyshire Hotel, Carter Lane East, South Normanton. The guest business speaker at that time will be Isobel Brown, Interim Programme Director for the Midlands Engine.
