Economic report on closer Derby–Nottingham working is published

A report into the economic case for closer working between the cities of Derby and Nottingham, as a “metro economy”, has been published today (November 20).

Consultancy Metro-Dynamics, which provides advice on cities development and growth, was commissioned by Derby and Nottingham City Councils to explore the likely economic impact of closer working across the two city areas; which are part of the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership area.

Both Councils have stressed that the study is independent and its recommendations are not binding, and wider discussion will be needed.

David Ralph, Chief Executive of the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “This initial document raises some interesting questions which will now need to be discussed with a wide range of stakeholders; including local authorities and businesses. As a consultee we welcome the opportunity to be a part of that discussion.”
