Arnold Market in Nottinghamshire will close for two weeks to allow improvements work, after a successful funding bid to a Nottinghamshire County Council programme backed by the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership.
New stalls will be erected at the Market, as part of Gedling Borough Council’s regeneration of Arnold town centre. The wider Arnold centre works have received £1.25million from Nottinghamshire County Council’s ‘Unlocking Growth in N2 Town Centres’ programme’, supporting refurbishment of county commercial centres; which itself has received £7.6m from the D2N2 LEP.
The D2N2 funding came from the LEP’s Local Growth Fund allocation; given to the LEP by the UK Government to support major infrastructure schemes in its area, which will directly aid economic and jobs growth.
Following the Arnold Market refurbishment a series of events are planned by Gedling Borough Council, to run from April 19 until the end of the month; to include a children’s Easter egg hunt, St George’s Day celebrations, and local produce promotions and street entertainers.
