As part of D2N2’s engagement strategy with our Voluntary, Community, & Social Enterprise (VCSE) partners, the organisation held the first Third Sector Engagement event of 2020 in Chesterfield this past week (March 4).
The event, held at the Proact Stadium in Chesterfield, featured presentations from Jane Howson, Chief Executive of Autism East Midlands and a D2N2 Board member, as well as D2N2 Head of Strategy & Policy, Will Morlidge.
Voluntary, Community & Social Enterprise
The VCSE sector in D2N2 is a significant partner in the achievement of D2N2’s local economic ambitions. As an enabler of employment and learning outcomes, by supporting people to address barriers and as a direct employer and contributor to the region’s economy, the relationship with the Local Enterprise Partnership is an important one.
The VCSE event is the first of a new model for a bi-annual strategic dialogue between D2N2 and local VCSE partners.
The event featured discussions on the changing role and responsibilities of LEPs; economic policy and priorities; funding streams and investments; and working together to embed inclusion outcomes across D2N2.
Local Industrial Strategy
Attendees heard from Head of Policy and Strategy Will Morlidge on the developing Local Industrial Strategy for D2N2 and had an opportunity for attendees to comment and contribute.
When complete, the Local Industrial Strategy will contain a limited number of focused, evidence-backed priorities which drive us towards the vision and targets in D2N2s Strategic Economic Plan, Vision 2030.
