Chair of D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership receives CBE

The Chair of the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, Elizabeth Fagan, has received her CBE from the Queen at a ceremony in Buckingham Palace.

It was announced in December (2019) in the New Year’s Honours List that Elizabeth would receive a CBE “for services to Gender Equality in Business”.

Elizabeth was appointed Chair of D2N2, the public and private sector partnership tasked with supporting and encouraging economic growth across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, in July 2018.

Beyond D2N2, Elizabeth is the former Non-Executive Chairman of Boots, having been appointed as the first female Managing Director of the multinational in 2016.

In addition to her D2N2 role, Elizabeth also sits on the board of the Office for Students, the independent regulator for higher education in England and is a Non-Executive Director of the Australian-listed pooling solutions company Brambles.

She is President of the Incorporated Society of British Advertisers and is a member and past President of Women in Advertising and Communications Club.

In August 2013, she became a Fellow of the Marketing Society and, in the same year, was awarded a Cosmetic Executive Women UK, Achiever Award.

Elizabeth was awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science by Nottingham Trent University in July 2018.

Speaking after the ceremony Elizabeth said, “This has been a truly remarkable experience and I’m truly honoured to have received a CBE from the Queen.”

“Gender equality continues to be a process but I’m proud to have played my own small part in the collective effort.”

“I believe that the award highlights the achievements of remarkable men and women from across the business world and I am delighted to share this with them.”

Elizabeth was also joined by Actress Wendy Craig and writer Rose Tremain in receiving her award.

Sajeeda Rose, Chief Executive of D2N2 said of Elizabeth’s award, “The CBE awarded to Elizabeth for services to Gender Equality in Business is well deserved and recognition of her proactive role in championing gender equality, and supporting future female leaders.”
