D2N2 will welcome John Williams, Executive Chairman of Maritime as a guest speaker at our forthcoming AGM on 2 December.
John has established, developed, and run numerous successful transport ventures in the UK and Europe and has had an influential role in shaping the landscape of the transport and logistics industry in the UK for almost 40 years.
Under his leadership, Maritime has grown into one of the largest privately-owned intermodal transport operators in the UK providing complete supply chain coverage including curtain-sided distribution, intermodal transport, container storage and repair, freight management, and cargo handling and warehousing.
Earlier this year, Maritime opened a new rail freight terminal at SEGROs Logistics East Midlands Gateway. The development together with East Midlands Airport and regional partners are currently discussing plans to secure ‘Freeport’ status, as the UK Government looks to turbo-charge global trade.
Freeports, which are set to create jobs, drive investment and regenerate communities, will have different customs rules than the rest of the country, including streamlined planning processes, a package of tax reliefs to help drive jobs, and simplified customs procedures.
D2N2 AGM
D2N2’s Annual General Meeting will take place online on Wednesday 2 December from 10am -11.30am and is open to members of the public.
The meeting will include a summary of our projects and achievements over the last year. We will also unveil our plans for future growth, outlining the interventions D2N2 will make to ensure our region is the heart of the UK’s recovery and growth.
Alongside John and our other speakers, we will be hosting a panel discussion with our Advisory Board Chairs answering questions put to them by our audience on topics as varied as business, skills, and place.
