£198,000 boost for Eastwood thanks to new industrial units

Work has started on two new industrial units in Eastwood, as part of a £198,000 investment from Broxtowe Borough Council and D2N2 LEP via the Local Growth Fund.

The light industrial units are being constructed at the Council owned Mushroom Farm Court site, on Meadow Bank Way and will be similar to the seven existing units on site.

The project has been co-funded by Broxtowe Borough Council with £115,000 from D2N2 LEP, from the Local Growth Fund programme. Over £1million of gross value is expected to be added over ten years.

Following a tender process, A&S Enterprises were appointed the contractor and took possession of the site in January. Once completed, the units will be the ideal premises for SMEs and offer 80m2 of affordable floorspace each.

Chair of the Jobs and Economy Committee, Councillor Tim Hallam said: “There has been a clear demand for smaller industrial space in the Borough and we already have a waiting list at our other Council owned sites so it’s fantastic to see work starting on these new units.

“Not only will they support local business, they will also create new jobs and bring in additional income for the Council to support existing services and other projects in the local area.”

Sajeeda Rose, Chief Executive at D2N2 LEP said: “We are pleased to see work starting on site at Mushroom Farm which will provide crucial support for SMEs in our area to grow and prosper”.

“Providing the right environment for SMEs is increasingly more important as they are a vital part of our local and regional economy and will play a key role in our recovery from the economic impact of the pandemic”.

It is estimated the units will be completed in June 2021, ready for immediate move in. The Council are keen to secure pre-lets for these two new units, please contact the Council’s Estates team on 0115 917 3477 or email estates@broxtowe.gov.uk for more information.
