Major new office development starts recruitment for 100 new jobs

A major new office developed as part of the regeneration of Nottingham’s Southside area has started recruitment.

The Unity Square development close to Nottingham Station is the new regional headquarters for HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) and its customer services hub is on the lookout for people considering a career in customer service or administration.

The D2N2 LEP has invested over £62million into Nottingham’s Southside. Projects include the Central Library, Bus Station, new Car Park, and improvements to public spaces and the road infrastructure, the new Nottingham College City Hub and the redeveloped Nottingham Castle.

Based at their new Nottingham offices in this dramatically changing part of the city, HMRC are looking for enthusiastic, helpful individuals of all ages to apply for one hundred Customer Service Advisor roles. Successful applicants to these new roles will be the first point of contact for HMRC customers and will provide support and advice by phone, email, letter and through webchat.

To join the team at HMRC, applicants are not expected to have experience in similar roles, as full training will be provided. This makes these jobs ideal for young people leaving education or adults who wish to change careers. Flexible working arrangements are also available, including periods working from home.

Portfolio Holder for Skills, Growth and Economic Development, Rebecca Langton has said: “The City Council’s ambition to transform this part of the city has prompted major investment, including the HMRC’s new Unity Square development near the station. It’s great to now see new job opportunities coming forward.

“Throughout the pandemic, the City Council has prioritised support for residents of all ages, whether they are looking for training and advice to start or change their careers, to find work to support them and their families or to realise their career ambitions.

“By promoting these brand new roles with a significant local employer, HM Revenue and Customs, we are saying clearly to local people that Nottingham is a city which can provide excellent and long-term job opportunities, and that the economic recovery of the city after the pandemic is progressing well.”

The Nottingham Jobs service, a partnership between Nottingham City Council, Department for Work and Pensions and the Futures Group, is an established local provider of employment and skills support, with community partners and projects across Nottingham city and the local area.

The Nottingham Jobs team also supports employers of all sizes to recruit local people, as well as providing access to funding, apprentices, Kickstart placements and more.
