D2N2, the Local Enterprise Partnership for Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, has released its Annual Review and Summary Accounts for 2021/22.
Despite suffering a cut in central government support, the closure of several European funding streams, the pandemic and current inflationary pressures, D2N2 has still been able to make important strategic investments in a diverse range of projects across its operating area.
Examples include:
- Glossop Town Hall, where the LEP is co-funding work to bring this iconic complex of public buildings back into community use with High Peak Borough Council.
- The Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Centre, Infinity Park, Derby, where work began at the end of March 2022.
- SmartParc, Derby, a unique business park promoting low carbon advanced food manufacturing.
- The Digital Turbine Centre, Worksop – facilitating a comprehensive upgrade to the existing digital IT infrastructure.
- The Bridge Skills Hub, enabling the RNN College Group to begin delivering further and higher education courses in the town.
- UK Electrification of Aerospace Propulsion Facility at the University of Nottingham
- In Nottingham city centre, we supported the works to demolish the old Broadmarsh shopping complex.
- Lindhurst Spine Road, Mansfield, supporting the delivery of up to 1,700 new houses and 31,000 square metres of commercial space.
“What all these projects have in common is their ability to drive further economic activity which deliver jobs and further private investment across the region. Taken together they are contributing to the strengthening of the economy which will accelerate the benefits of the forthcoming devolution process”, said D2N2 Chief Executive, Will Morlidge.
