D2N2 LEP Priorities for 2024: Delivery excellence and an exciting transition

Our Chief Executive, Will Morlidge, highlights our 2024 priorities. D2N2 LEP will continue delivering on our priority areas of low carbon, economic growth and productivity, skills and careers, inclusion and delivery excellence. Our priorities for this year feature in a round-up of East Midlands leaders’ plans, brought together by BakerBaird Communications.

Alongside these priorities, we’ll also be preparing to transition into the new East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) that is currently being established, following full council discussions and votes in all four Upper Tier authorities in the D2N2 region (Derbyshire County Council, Nottinghamshire County Council, Derby City Council and Nottingham City Council) last month.

All four authorities voted in favour of the plans; this means that residents across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire will get the opportunity to vote for the first ever East Midlands Mayor on 2 May, and confirms that the new East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) will come into existence this Spring.

Summing up our priorities for 2024, Will said:

“We’ll be developing and strengthening the East Midlands Hydrogen partnership and continuing to convene a robust business support landscape, underpinned by a strong evidence base and carefully-managed capital programmes.

We’ll build on our excellent careers support in our schools for all pupils, expand our skills support and further strengthen our focus on inclusion, as we prepare to transition into the new East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA).

We’re excited about the change that lies ahead and we’ll keep on driving a regular drumbeat of positive communications and continue to deliver operational excellence during the transition process.”
