Get involved with Startup Weekend 2014 – early bird tickets available now!

Got a great idea you want to bring to life? Can you pitch it in 60 seconds? If the answers are yes then why don’t you join us on 14-16 November for Startup Weekend Nottingham 2014!

Startup Weekend offers an all action challenge to construct and create an idea that you’ll take to a minimum viable product… all within 54 hours!

This involves working in areas such as market research, customer validation, business model/rollout strategy, branding, prototyping and tech build. All leading up to the final pitches where our judges will select the winning team.

Coaches this year include Chris Allwood, Digital Designer at Studio Output, Lucie de Lacy, Assistant Content Producer at Crocstar Media and Adam Bird, the Founder of OneDiary. With BioCity Nottingham Director Toby Reid and Founder of Skeleton Productions Jonathan English returning as a judges.

The principal sponsor of Startup Weekend Nottingham 2014 is Heart Internet and their Managing Director, Craig Cotter, said they are delighted to be supporting the event: “Ever since Heart Internet was founded by web hosting pioneers Jonathan Brealey and Tim Beresford we have maintained a strong entrepreneurial focus. This approach has driven us to become one of the UK’s largest web hosting companies with a team of 128 talented employees supporting thousands of customers every day.

“We’re proud to sponsor Startup Weekend Nottingham and to encourage entrepreneurs to make a difference by launching their own businesses whilst providing them with the technology and support they need to thrive.”

Startup Weekend facilitator, Mathieu Triay, said: “Startup Weekend is the best way to get a glimpse of what it’s like to be an entrepreneur inside a weekend. Not only you will able to put your idea to a test, but you can also benefit from the experience of the mentors who will be around to help you.”

Head of PR at FoodLoop GmbH, Philippa Main, took part in the inaugural Startup Weekend Nottingham 2013, and feels the event provides great opportunities, commenting: “It was a weekend full of good food, great company and was well laden with business minds of all ages. There was a lot of welcomed pressure – bringing an idea alive in two and a half days brings that – but despite all the ups and downs, I thoroughly enjoyed my time.

“In fact I’m still in contact with many of the participants who I met last year. It was truly an invigorating weekend and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking to mix things up a bit, meet some engaging and inspired individuals, and jump into a new world of possibilities!

“My participation at the StartUp Weekend last year led me to participate in the European Innovation Academy (a three week business accelerator in Nice) where I met, and worked with the CEO of Foodloop. After the academy I was offered a job at Foodloop – which is where I am to this day!”

You have until this Friday (17th October) to secure your early bird ticket for the event for £35 pounds – and save yourself £20 in the process (Full price ticket after Oct 17th £55).
