Second of D2N2’s free 2016 Business Breakfasts held in Nottingham

D2N2 has held the second in a series of six free 2016 Business Breakfasts today (October 19) at Nottingham’s New Art Exchange.

Each year the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) – a private sector-led partnership of business, local authorities, skills and training providers, and community and voluntary services promoting economic growth and jobs in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire – holds a series of free Business Breakfasts. The events are held at venues across its area; to hear from businesses, update them on D2N2 activities to boost the local economy and involve them in future projects.

This morning’s Business Breakfast at the New Art Exchange, near Forest Recreation Ground, Nottingham, was the second of six events (the first was held last week at Derby Silk Mill, Derby). A further four will follow in November.

Around 45 delegates today heard from speakers:

  • Sean Kirby, Communications Manager for D2N2 – On the LEP’s recent activities, and future economic strategy and projects.
  • Guest business speaker Chris Scarth, Commercial Director and co-founder of educational software company Prime Principle Ltd of Nottingham. The ‘spin out’ company of Nottingham Trent University, established in 2004, uses data tools and information capture and evaluation to enhance teaching and learning. Its main product, Classroom Monitor, is now used by more than 2,000 schools internationally.
  • Richard Kirkland, European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) Co-ordinator for the D2N2 LEP (pictured aboveon D2N2’s work with higher and further education providers, and employers, to ensure that local skills and training programmes are better aimed at plugging the ‘skills gaps’ in the workforces of the area’s companies.
  • Simon Hall, Growth Hub Manager at the D2N2 Growth Hub, who updated Business Breakfast delegates on Growth Hub help to start-ups and SMEs around business and marketing strategy, skills and training, gaining fresh markets, and accessing finance; to enable them to grow.

Some tickets are still available for further free D2N2 Business Breakfasts to follow at Chesterfield (November 3), Mansfield (November 10), Matlock (November 16) and Worksop (November 23). To book online to attend any of these click HERE.
