Recruiting Talent 2019 event held in D2N2 LEP area

The first-ever Recruiting Talent 2019 event for the D2N2 LEP area was held today (July 19) at the Derby College Roundhouse.

The free event – designed to enable attendees to learn, share, and discuss new approaches to recruiting talented employees – was hosted by Derby College; with event support from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership and D2N2 Growth Hub, Federation of Small Businesses, Nottingham Jobs, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue, DWP, The Prince’s Trust, Experience Works, Groundwork Greater Nottingham, All About Demolition, Motorpoint, Derby City Council Apprenticeship Hub and Flint Bishop.

Amongst the array of topics discussed – in front of an audience of around 180 employers, skills providers and others – were:

  • meeting future workforce needs
  • adopting innovative approaches to recruitment
  • reaping the benefits of diversity and inclusion.

Keynote speakers included the Chair of the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership Elizabeth Fagan , delivering a presentation on the future of workforce skills in the D2N2 LEP area and ‘the Boots Approach’; drawing on her experience as current non-executive Chair and former Managing Director of Boots.

Joining Elizabeth was Micheal Weedon, Policy Representative for the Federation of Small Businesses, talking on the subject of ‘SMEs and recruitment’.

A series of workshops were also held on 

  • Access to Finance and Skills Support Within D2N2
  • Diversifying Your Workforce: How To Recruit Inclusively
  • Unlocking Hidden Talent
  • Apprenticeship Panel: How Do You Recruit Yours?
  • Employment Law: Likely impact of Brexit on Recruitment.

Exhibitor Marketplace

In addition, delegates attending were able to speak to exhibitors involved with the recruitment sector.
