Business Rates – What the Future Holds

On behalf of the Mansfield and Ashfield Development Forum, The Invest Ashfield and Mansfield Team invites you to attend a presentation by Barry Wheeler on the “Business Rates – What the Future Holds” – an intensive seminar, for practitioners, landowners, developers, estate agents etc., who have an understanding of Business Rates and looking to improve or update their knowledge.

Thursday 5th March 2015

Business rates are changing – that is certain. What is less certain is how they are changing.  This tax, for that is what it is, has become something of a political football as recent legislative and regulation changes have demonstrated. We can expect still more changes that will affect businesses and property developers, hopefully for the better and that is the purpose of this presentation.

Date: Thursday 5th March, 12:30 – 15:30

Venue: The Old Library, Leeming Street, Mansfield

Topics to be discussed are:

  • Recent legislative changes and the effects of cases taken before the Courts;
  • The forthcoming revaluation due to take effect on 1st April 2017;
  • The impact of the various business rates empty property schemes and legislation;
  • The business rates retention scheme and how it affects ratepayers;
  • A brief look at Business Improvement Districts (BIDS), Enterprise Zones and business rates relief schemes.

The seminar carries 2 hours of CPD points for members of the RICS and IRRV.

Programme:

12:30 – 13:00: registration and refreshments

13:00 – 13:15: welcome and introductions

13:15 – 15:15: seminar presentation

15:15 – 15:30: questions
