Coldharbour charts a course for growth

D2N2 UI4G grant recipient Coldharbour Marine has expanded its international network with the appointment of Mumbai-based marine equipment service Marks Marine Radio to its network of sales and service agents.

Marks Marine’s services supply, install and service a wide range of marine equipment, ranging from communications and navigation to ventilation control, on-board sewage treatment systems and oil/ water separators. Coldharbour Marine will offer Marks Marine a sales training programme and after-sales service training in order that its new partner can confidently handle technical queries about Coldharbour’s innovative in-tank, in-voyage ballast water treatment system and its clean burn, inert gas generators.

Coldharbour Marine, who’s head offices are in Linby, Nottinghamshire, was one of several businesses to benefit from D2N2’s Unlocking Investment for Growth (UI4G) grant programme. This was a programme set up to help businesses bridge funding gaps for expansions which would create jobs. It is expected that the recent expansion at Coldharbour Marine Ltd will create 100 jobs this year (2015).

Panos Smyroglou, Coldharbour Marine’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “India is an important centre for commercial shipping and a very useful node as far as after sales service is concerned.

“It makes complete sense for Coldharbour to widen its Asian and Far Eastern representation and we look forward to working with Marks Marine. We look forward to a commercially satisfying partnership that will bring added value to our products and deliver both of us more satisfied customers.”

Unlocking Investment for Growth (UI4G) is funded by the UK’s Regional Growth Fund and the European Regional Development Fund. UI4G grant awards are given by the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership‘s Investment Panel, chaired by Peter Gadsby. The aim of the fund is to create long term sustainable jobs.

UI4G is now fully committed and is no longer accepting applications. Grants already approved will create over 400 new jobs and safeguard a further 350 existing jobs. The programme has inspired business owners in the D2N2 area to invest over £20million, alongside the grant support of £4.7million, to grow their businesses. The programme is managed for D2N2 by EMB Ltd.
