Consultation extended for Nottingham’s cycle super highway

A consultation on a major Nottingham City Council project to provide better cycling facilities – which will receive £6.1million from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) – is being extended.

The Council’s ‘Cycle City Ambition’ project will make safety improvements, refurbish existing cycle routes, and offer cyclists quick and easy access into Nottingham by creating a cycling ‘super highway’. The first phase of the project will create a ‘Western Corridor’, which will run from University Boulevard in Lenton to Daleside Road East, in Colwick.

D2N2 – the Local Enterprise Partnership promoting economic growth in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire – is giving £6.1million to the project over two years (up to March 2017).

More than 200 responses and views were received last week at consultation ‘infobus’ events, set up to consult people on the scheme.

The consultation has been extended to give out information at two further locations along the proposed route. The sessions will be held:

  • Tomorrow (Friday August 28), from 8am to 2pm – At The Lenton Centre in Willoughby Street, Lenton.
  • Wednesday (September 2), from 12noon to 6pm – On the consultation ‘infobus’, based at Park Road in Nottingham.

Online, project consultation will continue until Friday September 4.

Details of the route, the consultation bus route and the online consultation map can be found on transport2.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/cycle

The D2N2 investment in Nottingham’s Cycle City Ambition project came from its Local Growth Fund allocation, which is in excess of £170million.
