Final preparations for tomorrow’s (Tuesday April 16) Venturefest East Midlands 2015 event officially got underway this afternoon as co-sponsor the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership and Growth Hub team – promoting economic growth in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire – joined fellow exhibitors in setting up their stands to receive more than 1,000 delegates.
The free event at the East Midlands Conference Centre, on the University of Nottingham’s University Park campus, will run from 9am to 5pm tomorrow. Delegates will include East Midlands innovators, entrepreneurs, investor, and both well established and new businesses.
YO! Sushi founder Simon Woodroffe, and D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Chief Executive David Ralph and Chairman Peter Richardson, will be among the guest experts speaking on business topics including innovation, low carbon, the creative industries, access to finance, intellectual property and life sciences amongst others. There will also be an Innovation Showcase Expo – with a D2N2 stand open to visitors – as well as an ‘Inspiration Hub’ and ‘Insights Theatre’.

D2N2 will be sharing some of its stand space with Rushcliffe’s YouNG network; a group set up by Rushcliffe Borough Council to promote, develop and provide opportunities and entrepreneurialism for young people.
D2N2 Chief Executive David Ralph, who will be part of a panel discussing innovation strategies alongside his Leicester & Leicestershire LEP counterpart Corin Crane, said: “The East Midlands has a phenomenal track record for innovation. It is in the region’s DNA and we have always been at the forefront of new and exciting ways to do business. I look forward to Venturefest East Midlands 2015 tomorrow, and believe that it will fully demonstrate how and why the East Midlands is the definitive location for businesses to innovate and grow.”
