D2N2 Chief Executive named among Nottinghamshire’s ‘most influential’

D2N2 Chief Executive David Ralph is featured in an annual publication out today (September 13), which showcases the most influential people in Nottinghamshire from the worlds of business, politics, music and sport.

The Nottingham Post’s Most Influential People in Nottinghamshire publication series (pictured) – free in today’s edition of the paper – has run for the last two years, and aims to showcase key figures from various sectors; including food, art, business, sport, transport, the service industries and local government. David has featured in both publications for his work as the Chief Executive of the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

Formed in 2011, the D2N2 LEP is a private sector-led partnership of local authorities, businesses, skills and training providers and community and voluntary organisations. It works to grow the economy of the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire area, with the aim of creating 55,000 new jobs in ten years (up to 2023).

David Ralph has been Chief Executive of the D2N2 LEP since 2013 and works to help deliver D2N2’s Strategic Economic Plan (SEP). Prior to this, he worked as Chief Executive of the Haven Gateway Partnership in Colchester and also helped to secure the Docklands Light Railway extension from Canary Wharf as part of the Lewisham 2000 programme.

Several members of the D2N2 board – which oversees and governs the LEP’s activities – are also featured in this year’s edition. They are:

Other notable people featured in this year’s publication are Sir John Peace, who is both Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire and Chair of the Midlands Engine Board, as well as Chair of Standard Chartered plc and Burberry plc; Professor Sir David Greenaway, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nottingham; Kathy McArdle, Chief Executive of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter; Olympic Gold Medallist Rebecca Adlington; and Craig Chettle, Chief Executive of the Confetti Media Group. A page is also devoted to the MPs who serve the Nottinghamshire area.

Nottingham Post Business Editor, Gemma Toulson, says in her introduction to the supplement that it attempts to promote inspirational figures to raise the aspirations of Nottinghamshire’s young people, saying that: “By working together, much more could be achieved, which in the long run could lead to jobs and greater economic prosperity for this area.”

The names in the supplement were compiled by senior members of the Post’s editorial team and are not ranked by level of influence.
