D2N2 LEP Annual Conference and AGM held

The D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership has held its 2016 Annual Conference and AGM today (July 26).

Around 160 delegates – representing businesses, key sectors and organisations from across the D2N2 LEP area and beyond – attended this morning’s event at the Vision West Nottinghamshire College’s main Mansfield site.

Guest speakers included:

  • Sir John Peace; Chair of the Supervisory Board overseeing the Midlands Engine, and Chair of both Standard Chartered plc and Burberry plc;
  • Dame Asha Khemka, West Nottinghamshire College Group’s Principal and CEO
  • Tony Walker, Deputy Managing Director of Toyota Manufacturing (UK) Ltd and MD of Toyota Motor Europe’s London Office.

Delegates heard from D2N2 Chairman Peter Richardson and Chief Executive David Ralph on the LEP’s progress and activities over the last 12 months, and its future plans.

Announcements included news of the LEP’s imminent bid for additional Government funding through Local Growth Fund 3; which would see 23 projects across Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire benefit from £107million in LGF 3 funding, stimulating a total investment package of £426million. There was also news of new research being done by the University of Nottingham for D2N2, looking at measures to improve productivity in its area. Further details on this announcement can be found by clicking the web link HERE.

Peter Richardson, Chairman of the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, said of the day: “It’s been a terrific Annual Conference. I was pleased to see so many people come to our main event, to not only hear what we’ve been doing to promote the economy but to see how they could engage with our future plans.”

David Ralph, Chief Executive of the D2N2 LEP, added: “Our Local Growth Fund 3 bid shows the ambitions D2N2 has to build on our excellent work so far; in promoting economic growth, creating new jobs and helping new businesses get started and to develop.”
