Derbyshire Enterprise Adviser scoops Woman of the Year Award

Allison Kemp, D2N2 LEP Enterprise Adviser and Managing Director of AIM Commercial Services was named ‘Woman of the Year’ at the Everywoman in Transport & Logistics Awards.

In bestowing the special award, the judges commended Allison for her humility, enthusiasm and going ‘way beyond her normal job’.

Enterprise Adviser

As part of her work with D2N2 LEP, Allison acts as an Enterprise Adviser, inspiring young school students to consider a long-standing career in transport and logistics.

The D2N2 Enterprise Adviser Network has ten Enterprise Coordinators in the D2N2 area, engaging with 80 schools and linking them with 80 business leaders. These businesspeople act as volunteer Enterprise Advisers, forming a network of large and small employers who work with school leaders to develop their plans to better engage with employers.

AIM Commercial Services

After trying her hands at the construction industry for two years, Allison followed in the footsteps of her father and grandfather by embarking on a career in logistics.

Aged just 26, Allison became the Transport Manager for Hornigold Haulage in Wellingborough.

In 2004 Allison founded AIM Commercial Services, a business that keeps vehicle operators compliant through its knowledge of the industry, an extensive training academy, and rigorous audits.

More recently in 2018, Allison became the first woman ever to become the deputy chair of the Freight Transport Association National Council.

Upon winning, Allison commented: “I feel very humble and overwhelmed to have received this amazing award of Woman of the Year 2019. Thank you to everyone that made this possible.”
