E-commerce specialists backed by D2N2 announce excellent results

A website and online marketing consultancy has announced excellent annual results – and thanked the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership for an £85,000 grant which helped it to expand this year.

Purpose Media – which specialises in corporate web development, online marketing and e-commerce for companies – is based in South Normanton, Derbyshire. It has just published its 2015 Annual Review, showing it has exceeded its financial targets and achieved year-on-year growth of 66%.

In the summer (2015) D2N2 announced it was awarding the company an £85,000 grant; to help it purchase new office space, expand the business and create ten new jobs.

The D2N2 funding came from its Unlocking Investment for Growth (UI4G) programme, which was set-up to help firms keen to expand but lacking a percentage of the investment needed to carry their plans forward.

Purpose Media said: “In June we completed the purchase of an adjacent office unit, giving us three times the space to grow into. With the help of a D2N2 grant we have been able to expand the size of our offices and continue recruiting staff to grow our business and provide our customers with support.”

Other highlights from the UI4G grant recipient’s year included:

  • being contracted to create websites for Rotherham United and Derbyshire County Cricket Club;
  • winning the ‘Small Business of the Year’ award category in the 2015 Sheffield Star City region Awards.

The D2N2 UI4G programme has been supported by the Regional Growth Fund and the European Regional Development Fund. UI4G grant awards are given by the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership Investment Panel, chaired by Board Member Peter Gadsby. The aim of the fund is to create long term sustainable jobs.

UI4G is now fully committed and no longer accepting applications. Grants already approved will create over 400 new jobs and safeguard a further 350. The programme has inspired business owners in the D2N2 area to invest over £20million, alongside the grant support, to grow their businesses.
