Ear Foundation’s achievement is recognised by prestigious award

Nottingham hearing charity The Ear Foundation was one of six life science companies to win a prestigious award at an awards evening last night (June 11).

The Medilink Awards Ceremony was held at Nottingham’s Belfry Hotel and featured a range of life science businesses. Medilink East Midlands is the region’s life science industry association; which aims to help companies establish themselves, develop and grow. It is a founding member of Medilink UK, a national network supporting over 3,000 companies across the UK.

The Ear Foundation won the award for ‘Outstanding Achievement’ for its new Marjorie Sherman Centre, a £700,000 facility at its Lenton headquarters made possible through the help of a £120,000 grant from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership.

D2N2’s Unlocking Investment for Growth (UI4G) programme was designed to help businesses bridge funding gaps for projects which create jobs. The £120,000 grant from D2N2 enabled The Ear Foundation to open a new facility which would not only help over 3,000 people a year looking for assistance  with hearing technology, but also safeguard its current staff’s jobs and create seven new ones.

Dr Sue Archbold, Chief Executive of The Ear Foundation, has previously said the new facility would not have been possible without the D2N2 grant.

David Ralph, D2N2 Chief Executive, said today: “I congratulate The Ear Foundation on its well-deserved Award. The business support grants provided through D2N2 are about delivering sustainable jobs, particularly in our key sectors such as healthcare, in which the charity works.”
